Santa Cruz County has nine records of Blackburnian Warbler through 18
Oct
1999: seven fall records (from 4-30 Oct, five found between 17-28 Oct),
and
one record each from winter and late spring (see below). The winter
record
was, at the time, only the second over-wintering record for the species
in
the Middle Pacific Coast region. All have been within two miles of
the coast,
except for one about six miles inland in the Pajaro Valley. All have
been
identified as females or immature males, except an adult male in spring
1977.
They have been found in a variety of settings, including Monterey pines,
deciduous riparian, backyards and suburban parks.
